Time | Lapse is an exhibition project influenced by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), particularly the concepts of present-moment awareness and self-as-context. The project is a result from the reflection on time, an intensified emotional coalescence accumulated from the observation on the passage of time during a 3-month artist residency in Sinalunga, Italy.
The exhibition brings together a series of reflective sculptures titled To | Be and two audiovisual works, Star | Wish and Azure | Escape, creating augmented spaces that invite viewers to reflect on shifting relationships between the self, memory, and time.
The two audiovisual works evolved from a light composition originally created for the concert Sakamoto Remix (June 2026), featuring compositions and arrangements of Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto by composer and shō performer Paul Taro Schmidt, performed by the Winterthur-based Ensemble TaG. Rather than documenting the original performance, they imagine different timelines in which the composition evolved along another path. Each work reveals an alternative realization of the same artistic origin, viewed from a parallel perspective, uncovering hidden connections between what happened, what could have happened, and what remains unseen.
Time | Lapse was developed during the Gargonza Arts Scholarship and was first exhibited in the historic wine cellar of Castello di Gargonza.
